====
The World Health Organization defines health as the complete physical, mental and social well being of a person.

The objective of this program is to empower people to become responsible for their health. Good health leads to a better quality of life, better income potential and reduced health care costs.

Present day sedentary and stressful lifestyles have led to the emergence of obesity and chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and depression. Almost all of them are preventable. Increasing numbers of overweight children are being diagnosed with adult type diabetes. Stress and depression are taking their toll among executives: suicide is common among executives in Japan.
Different factors that directly affect our every-day health covered during this 3-hour seminar, include:

Diet
-----
• Diet is the one factor with the most impact on our health.
• What should we eat, how much and when.
• What should be on our grocery list?
• What foods can be mixed?
• Which fats are good?
• How can we calculate how many calories we need in a day?
• How does age affect food choice?
Exercise
----------
• As we become older, our muscle mass shrinks. This causes a slowing in the rate at which we burn calories, and accounts for the middle-age spread.
• What precautions should you take before beginning exercise?
• When should you stop doing an exercise?
• Which exercises should you choose?
• What if you have an illness?

Hydration
------------
• How much water should you drink in a day?
• What if what you drink actually causes you to lose water or damage your health?
• Why is water important and why it is a delay if we drink when we are thirsty?

Sleep
-------
• Why is quality of sleep important?
• What does a recent study show about the relationship between sleep and diabetes?
• What about power naps?

Stress
-------
• Stress is another factor which has a huge impact on health. Chronic stress causes a release of hormones which result in diabetes and high blood pressure as well as making their treatment difficult.
• Causes of stress are unique in every case as is an individual’s response, and this affects outcome.
• Some people thrive on stress and are seen as achievers and stars! The problem with that is an early burnout. On the other hand, complacence is equally harming.
• What you can do about the stress in your life.

Safety and Prevention
---------------------------
• This is a neglected area and has a great impact on health.
• How a few simple precautions can protect us from injury or severe illness?

Fun and Recreation
-----------------------
• While attending to the needs and wishes of everyone else, are you forgetting yourself?
• How can you practice self-interest?
• What is the distinction between self-interest and selfishness?
• What energises you and what drains you, what you can do about it?

Spirituality and Contribution
---------------------------------
• There is joy in giving and it produces an exhilarating feeling.
• Giving back not just through your cheque-book but also with your time.

Environment
---------------
• Our environment affects our health in many ways.
• Our average life span has almost doubled over the past century mainly because we have clean, safe drinking water. All the hard water that we ingest and the chemicals that pollute our environment wreck havoc on our digestive system and destroy our health.
• Not only does our harsh environment impair our digestive system but our finely balanced immune system is also affected, leaving us wide open to serious diseases and infections.
• What can you do, and why should you do to improve your surroundings in leading a better and a healthier lifestyle, not just for your own sake but for those you love most.

Our health is our most precious commodity. When we take steps to improve our health we can enjoy a better life and have more energy to do the things that matter to us in our daily lives.
